I spent the morning at the Ventrue courthouse for jury duty. I thought it was going to be boring but it was quite the opposite, actually. Yes, I'm lame.

I was supposed to be there at 8 o'clock and so naturally I was late. But only --and miraculously-- by a few minutes. Also, no one seemed to care so it was all good. Shortly after I signed in, a grandfatherly judge came down and gave us a little speech about civic duty and etc. which I thought was quite educational.

I had come prepared to spend the day reading a book but I never got the chance. My name came up immediately and I was in the very first group sent to one of the courts upstairs. It's a double murder case. Awesome, right? (I'm sooo itching to look it up right now but I'm being good and following the judge's instructions not to.) It's going to be a 10-day trial. I didn't know how much time the lab allowed for jury duty so I didn't ask to be excused from consideration, something which half of our group did and got. After that the rest of us were given a questionnaire to answer and turn in, and then we were done for the day. We are to return this Friday to finish the process.

It was rather enjoyable, the whole thing.
